National Standards

• Formulated policy and coordinated response to federal and state fire protection requirements for Pennsylvania Power and Light. Susquehanna Nuclear Station complies with the extensive US Nuclear Regulatory Commission fire protection requirements including 10 CFR 50 Appendix R.
• Experienced with OSHA, State of Pennsylvania, National Fire Protection Association, and major industrial insurance carriers.

Training and Consulting

• Presented technical ideas and worked with people in a learning atmosphere.
• Wrote and taught a nationally certified nuclear fire protection course. Students included utilities, architect/engineers, government and the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff.

Started Kohn Engineering in 1995. Fire protection consulting based on cost-effective and practical concepts has been provided to a wide variety of clients.

Pennsylvania Power & Light Company 1972 - 1995
Allentown, PA

Provided fire protection engineering and technical support for PP&L’s commercial offices, oil-fired power plants, coal-fired power plants and nuclear power plant. Established PP&L fire protection as world class. From 1974 on, provided staff fire protection engineering with no fire protection technical supervision. From 1977 to 1995, senior fire protection engineer with responsibility for design, formulation and assessment of all aspects of PP&L’s nuclear fire protection program.

1989-1994

Developed and instructed a national fire protection course on “Fire Protection in Nuclear Power Plants”. Technical Seminars and Vantage Training, Inc. provided technical training on a national level using nationally known experts.
